I'm helping my mother plan a trip to Palm Springs, Cali and am going to accompany her, my auntie and my foxy faux-auntie. Have you been there? Do share your advice.
Otherwise, I'm all about the simple pleasures this week.
Try this sangria for your summer entertainment. It's SO good. Peach-Basil Sangria (especially if you have GERD, it's friendly to the stomach, just use Sauvignon Blanc wine.)
My Hello Kitty socklets from Payless, they peek out when I sit down and I make myself giggle.
Walnut oil for everything: salad dressings, cooking, baking, marinades, cuticle conditioner. There are different grades you can use for high heat cooking or for dressing your food. Yummy change from olive oil!
NY&Co accessories! I LOVE the multi-strand tender-yet-tough necklace of "pearls" and silver chains. It's not on their site but this one is. Also the rings have rocked my world.
And while I'm at it, this dress which I got in, of course, black, and will be wearing as a summer tunic. It's soooooo cuuuuuuuuute!
Aged Manchego cheese (goat's milk) takes me back to Spain and has a mild crunchy bite to it. Perfect on a baguette! Or I should say, pan.
Speaking of "pan," I dragged Salty D. to a premiere of a new musical, The Pan Show - sex, drugs, rock-n-roll: a cautionary tale. At the theatre-formerly-known-as-my-employer. This is the kind of show I would have loved to work on. Debauchery, original music, burlesque, racially offensive. I like the direction they're taking. They describe it as South Park + Rocky Horror Picture Show and to that I would add Frank Zappa's Joe's Garage. And it has a Bollywood 'happy ending.' If you're local, it's up for one more week before it tours to parts yet unknown.
These are people I know in real life, rehearsing for it:
Of course it is more impressive on stage with glitzy costumes and pasties and dancing.
I have rediscovered Beastie Boys' Ill Communication. One of those days when I blindly grabbed a CD from my library. Am currently obsessed with this song. Ya don't stop...
