I'm not going to talk about my political beliefs. But just to say I am heartened that so many more women have been elected this year. Women get shit done. Some guys do too, but we need equal representation and to get closer to other countries in that respect. If the USA is indeed the greatest country in the world then that needs to happen.
That little bit said, here's something I hate.
That Facebook post that reads, "If you support Candidate Jones for Congress, unfriend me now. I want nothing to do with someone who supports that shitty Jones." Meanwhile, I might have a different opinion about Candidate Jones, but I still value our friendship so I don't want to unfriend you despite our differences. How about instead of rudely shunning me you say "If you support Candidate Jones, let's have coffee. I'd like you to hear my opinion and I want to know what's important to you." Maybe I think Candidate Jones has better character, or maybe I'm an issue voter and I like Jones' stance on one issue but I'm not sure about the rest of him/her. Or maybe I met Jones at a party and saw their good side while not realizing they were such a shitty person.
All I'm saying is, it's not an all-or-nothing thing. I have friends who are Trump fans and friends who are not. I love them equally. Because we've talked about why they feel the way they do. It's not all-or-nothing. And if you don't like that view, then unfriend me now. Ha ha ha.
