Makin' it: Toe-peeps-airy-Topiary!

I was sent a photo of a vibrant pink and yellow conglomeration of Peeps crafted into a topiary-looking thing. Of course I immediately thought, "I have to try that."

Now, I may be crafty at times, but I'm not crafty.  But I pushed myself into Michael's craft store and bought a styrofoam ball, a dowel, and a super-cute flower pot. Then I went to the market and bought like 20 packages of Peeps and a bag of jelly beans. 

At home I had lots of cocktail toothpicks (I should have had a cocktail party with Lil' Smokies instead) and some random pieces of styrofoam. 

The random styrofoam pieces go in the flower pot.  Stick the dowel in. TIP:  get a bigger diameter than I did. I underestimated the weight of the Peeps layers and the finished product was challenging to transport.  Another TIP:  sharpen the edges of the dowel for easier penetration of the ball.  YES I SAID THAT.

Stick Peeps into the styrofoam ball using toothpicks. No hot glue necessary. Use multiple toothpicks to secure the Peeps on the underside of the ball, otherwise gravity will take over and you'll have Peepsters dropping everywhere. When the Peeps are cured they will stay wherever you've stuck 'em.

I then delivered the Peepiary to my friend.

 

I used all green to be as realistic to a topiary as possible.  Ha, ha.

The opaque pastel jellybeans are Just Born's berry mix and they are delicious.

OMG! So cute! And I thought I was clever for making Easter cupcakes (with edible grass and jelly bean eggs). This is seriously awesome. Happy fun time indeed.

You deserve a Peeptini after that. 1 part Midori, 2 parts Bacardi Limon, 4 parts refrigerator lemonade made in an ice filled pitcher. Slit a peep bunny to adhere to side of glass. N'joy!

Cute! If you got some green sanding sugar, you could cover the exposed white marshmallow parts.
