At age 43, I'm going to start the process of getting my little MBA. Even with a crappy transcript and a waiver of the GMAT, they accepted me to start the program (I have to cram four "foundation" courses before the official MBA program kicks in.)
But...wow. I have to say that I was PMSing so hard when I got the news that the floodgates opened and I cried because it felt like this acceptance was an accomplishment all on its own.
Now the real brain work begins.
College is so different now and it's taking me a while to grasp the immediacy of everything. Funny, that. A "while," and "immediacy."
Classes start next week and as soon as the syllabus was posted (um, today,) I ordered the mega-expensive book.
OMG. There goes my shoe budget. OK, not totally, just deflated slightly.
And I guess I have to read my whole assignment for class #1 before the first class actually happens? Does it work that way? I don't know, I emailed the professor.
20-some years ago we didn't get our syllabus until the first class and THEN we went out to stand in line and buy books and THEN we went to some parties and THEN did some half-assed reading of the first chapter while sitting on the quad half-watching hackeysack players and listening to the Talking Heads "And She Was."
A song I still love! Now I just have to figure out how to be right there with the world as it's moving.
good luck and a big huge enormous congratulations to you !!!!

Yes, do as much advanced reading as you can.
Are the four foundation courses required? My program recommending 2-3 for me since I didn't have a business or math degree, but I skipped them. I figured I could wing it.

You rock.

Thank you for the enthusiastic support!
Yes, PM, the 4 foundation courses are required and I have to get a certain grade in a couple of them before they will accept me into the actual MBA classes. The only one they are lax on is the marketing foundation course, I have to take it but I don't have to ace it. Which is kind of funny.
