I have totally been craving cake lately. And I'm not denying myself cake. Why, just yesterday I had a slice of coconut cake with buttercream icing. The cake part was meh but the icing was decadent, it was like eating a loofah covered in a stick of butter. So much for getting the cholesterol count down. The other day I had a mediocre slice of carrot cake. Really, I could just eat the icing. I hate when there are nuts in carrot cake.
A friend wants me to take a cake decorating class with her. I've tried that before. The "Wilton Way" didn't really work out for me. I learned how to do the icing roses off-cake, but had a hard time actually putting them onto the cake, then the rest of the cake looked almost as bad as my masterpeeps.
But she said, "We can learn how to work with fondant!" Uuuuuhhhh - I think it might be better for me to just buy cakes from someone who's passionate about fondant and icing and making a delicious as well as pretty cake.
Speaking of fondant passion, several people have told me Mary Alice from Ace of Cakes is one of my separated-at-birth sisters. {call me!}
And speaking of cake sisters, I'd like to wish a girlfriend a very happy birthday!!
duuuude...i totally thought the same thing about you and Mary Alice. Doppleganger yo!
