I don't believe that people in either major political party really know how to "fix" this country.
I don't believe the Federal Reserve knows how to fix this economy.
I think whoever is elected president, and his team, are going to fuck up somehow.
I don't like extremists.
I want major corporations to take on more responsibility for job creation and boosting the economy by taking the initiative to pay workers more and keep jobs in the U.S. Yes, I realize that will affect profitability.
I believe in being fiscally conservative. Ideally.
I wish male lawmakers would not exert control over women's reproductive rights and that abortion was not a painfully divisive political issue.
I believe the U.S. should support Israel.
I don't think there's anything wrong with requiring an I.D. to vote. I never understood why we didn't have to provide identification. I used to tell an elderly volunteer at our polling place in a church gymnasium my name and then I'd have to help her find it on the list, and then I would duplicate the signature on the roll and she would check it off the list. How is that a fail-safe system? I fail to understand how this is a partisan issue. Hey, if my non-driving mentally ill family member has figured out on his own how to get a photo ID, then anyone can.
I realize that Medicare and Social Security won't be around when I need them in like 30 years, and I'm pissed that many seniors using those programs now say, "Not my problem."
I believe in supporting our military troops although I dislike and don't understand war.
I don't understand tax laws, either.
I think anyone - gay or straight - who wants to enter into a legal marriage should be afforded that opportunity.
I would like to understand what it is the U.S. is not doing right with our education system.
I don't think big farms should receive big subsidies with one end result being high fructose corn syrup.
I'd like to see less toxins in our food and water supply because dammit we're giving ourselves cancer and heart disease.
And why is using up and poisoning our water with fracking a totally great idea?
And how is it we have a freaking helium shortage? Huh? Stop with the balloons. I expect to see radical changes at the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade.
It's all too much.
But back to women.
Shame on anyone who denies a woman's right to choose what's best for her life and her family. Shame on the elected officials who conjure up stories about what the uterus and ovaries do during a rape. Shame on the men who think that invasive transvaginal ultrasound tests should be mandatory and that women can just close our eyes and ignore the test while the picture of a fetus is fluttering on the screen and the ultrasound wand is uncomfortably probing around all up in there. Shame on people for trying to force their made up religious beliefs on an entire country where freedom of religion is our right. For shame. I am judging you.
Now, how do I vote?
Right.
